Contributions Challenge 1:

This is our saving energy plan!

Assignment 1)

In the Netherlands we have solar panels, water centrals and windmills. These are kinds of

sustainable energy.

The solar panels have layers, between those layers electric voltage is generated. These

electric voltages can be used in houses.

In the water centrals flowing water rotates a turbine. The rotary movement is converted into

electricity.

By the kinetic energy of the air the blades rotate. And as a result, some energy is generated,

but you can also move water with the windmills.

The Netherlands are running behind when it comes to sustainable energy. They want to

invest in sustainable energy and no more. They want that big polluters pay and that the

sustainable energy gets more space.

Assignment 2)

It’s very important to reuse energy. Here are a couple of ways to save energy easily. At home you can save energy by turning the lights off, don’t use much water or don’t let the plug needlessly in the socket. This way you can save a lot of money and energy at home. On school you can save energy to place solar panels on your school, turn the lights off on the toilet when you’re done. Our plan is to save energy in the little things. Like when it’s winter and you have your window open, close your window and don’t put the heating higher. Or having the lights on when it’s not necessary.

Sustainable energy sources in the Netherlands

in the Netherlands we have;

1.       Solar panels

2.       Wind energy

3.       Water power

4.       Biomass

The plans from the political parties in the Nederlands

Groen links:“We want  climate changing laws in. Here we explain the goals for climate policy for the long run legally fixed.”

 VVD: “A serious environmental policy can only be arranged worldwide. The Netherlands must comply with European environmental standards, but we do not want additional rules .We believe that pollution at the source needs to be addressed. We better clean cars and trucks and then develop  all sorts of municipalities set up complicated environmental zones”

PVDA: “ Our climate targets in the Dutch law initiatiefwet explains: it is for the supply of our children and for the prosperity of Netherlands vital that we now make speed.”

D66: “ To halt climate change, we  want to close the coal plants by 2025. All public transport is emission-free by 2025, hopefully,  and we’ll make electric driving attractive for everyone as soon as possible.

Saving energieplan for everyone

1         Turn the lights out if you go away.

2         Lopend op met de fiets naar school gaan

3         Don’t take a Shower not too long

4         Turn down the heat if you leave your house

Durable energie

In the world we have a lot of several conditions of energie.

Coalenergy: (fossil fuel) coals are compressed rests of plants of more than 300 million years old with a high energylevel.

Geothermal energy: (fossil fuel) energy is extracted from the heat sources of the Earth's surface.

Solar energy: energy from the sun in the form warmth and light. Electricity from the sunlight is durable and inexhaustible. Nuclear energy: this is energy comes from uraniumß this found we in the earth’s ground/surface.

Waterpower energy: waterpower is energy from running water, there orginate no damaging dusts.

Biomass: Energy from biomass comes from combustion, gassing or fermentation of organic materials. (like wood and garden quit).

In the Netherlands, we have a lot of sustainable energie. Here are a few examples, and how we use them in the Netherlands.

- Windenergy: Windmils

- Solar energy: Solar panels. - geothermal energy : Hereby people use sources from the surface, but in our country there are no sources from the surface. So we have to dig deeper in the earth’s surface to find geothermal energy.

- hydroelectric energy: Water has to move to produce energy, but in the Netherlans we have no hills. So we use watermills.

- Coal: In the past people used to get coal out of mines. But now, in the Netherlands, we use coal stations.

- Nuclear energie: We have two nuclear power-stations.

- Biomass: More than sixty percent of the sustainable energy produced in Netherlands is energy from biomass. Through combustion, gasification and fermentation, we get energy from biomass.

But the Netherlands isn’t a durable country. Soon the elections again in our country. We have examined how each party thinks about the environment.

PvdA

The PvdA stands for the party of the work. This party thinks that it is really important that the Netherlands are clean. They have with an other party a climate law inserted, for a deduction of CO2 emmision and durable energie facilities.

Greenleft

This party wants to make from the Netherlands a cleaner country. The party wants to generating wind en make solar panels affordable. Also they have together with the PvdA a climate law inserted. This law have to reduce the ejection.

VVD

The VVD in the Netherlands stands for the people’s party for freedom and democracy the partijleider from the VVD is Mark Rutte. Mark Rutte wanted to invest sustainable energie for the future, he wants for example that the emissions from C02 reduced and that the climate will be good again, He wanted to choose one energy source and that we find a energie source fort he future.

CDA

The CDA stands for Christion-Democracy Appèl and the partyleader from the CDA is Buma. Buma wanted that fossil fuel scattered worden, that the Netherland not dependent are from one specific country. He wanted to do more on saving energie.

Less energie

To use less energie you can do lots of things, here are a few tips you can use at home!

- Keep the temperature from your house as low as possible. - Shower shorter, one minute less showering can spare lots of money! - Keep the fridge clean, and espacially cooling-elements. - Turn off the lights when there is nobody there. - Don’t use the dryer in the summer, and hang your clothes outside to let it dry.

What kind of sustainable energy sources are available in The Netherlands?

There are a few kinds of sustainable energy available in The Netherlands. For instance ;

-Hydroelectricity (Energy collected out of water, like watermills)

-Wind Offshore (windmill parks in the North sea)

-Solar energy (solar panels)

-Wind Onshore (Windmill parks on land)

-Geothermal (Heat that can be found underground at 100 m deep, it gets collected and can be used to warm houses)

What are the effects of these energy sources?

Hydroelectricity : Hydroelectricity is a mill (most of the time) that spins because of the water that flows through the mill. A dynamo collects the energy the mill creates.

Wind Offshore : Wind Offshores are windmill parks in the North Sea (most of the time) to harvest wind energy to generate electricity.

Solar energy: Solar energy is energy collected out of sunlight (solar power). A lot of people have solar panels on their roof, and some football stadia have their roof full with solar panels.

Wind Onshore : Wind Onshores are windmillparks on land which spin so they can produce electricity.

Geothermal: Geothermal is heat that can be found underground at 100 m deep, it gets collected and can be used to warm houses

What plans are there in the Netherlands to solve the energy problems?

In the Netherlands we want to switch to sustainable energy, these could be the plans after our election for our politics.

Groen Links, they want to get rid of fossil energy, and want to stimulate the market for sustainable energy by investing in their projects.

CDA, they want to do a reduce the CO2 output and invest in sustainable energy.

PvdA, they want to invest more in cleaner cars and less in asphalt. They want new and exciting energy sources with cleaner air with more trains and less traffic.

PVV, They don't give a crap and think it's a myth.

INTERVIEW SOMEONE! (family, schoolmates)

It's important to save energy so we interviewed some people.

Carla Laagland, (Writers sister)She has turned off the hot water over day, so she spends less money and saves the world while she's at it, and she unplugs every machine if it isn't used.

Sander Flink (schoolmate), He turn lights off and remove his smartphone from the charger if it is 100%.

Tobias van Os (schoolmate), He turn everything off what he won't use.

Stef Schrooten (schoolmate), He would turn the lights in the rooms he is not in/using.

Wes Wikkerink (Writer), He would disconnect his phone from the charger if it is 100%

Jelmer Veldhuis (writer), He would turn of everything what is using electricity and you won't use

Our own way to save energy

By the page's we have seen the best way to save energy is the shower.

It doesn't cost any money and you can only save money by turning your shower lower and the heat lower. By this way you don't you instantly have to pay a lower bill for water and gas and while your at it your saving the world. LETS SAVE THE WORLD! :]

Challenge 1

Assignment 1

What kind of sustainable energy sources are available in the Netherlands?

Renewable energy is energy that the humanity of unlimited time can use, without the nature become contaminated. The most well - known forms of renewable energy in the Netherlands are:

* Solar panels

* Wind turbines

Solar panels convert sunlight into electricity. This is also known as solar energy. Solar energy is the energy of the Sun in the form of heat and light. Solar panels are places on houses to provide the house with electricity.

Wind turbines convert the power of wind into electricity. We call it wind energy. Wind energy is clean and comes from a resource that never runs out, namely the wind. Wind turbines are mainly placed in the sea and the countryside.

After this all, the Netherlands is still the most pollution country of Europe.

What are the effects of these energy sources?

The effects of solar panels are:

* People save more money

* The energy never stops

* The environment isn’t affected

The effects of wind turbines are:

* They sometimes have negative consequences to the nature, especially for birds.

* The environment isn’t affected

* People save more money

What plans are there in the Netherlands to solve the energy problems?

The most important goal of the Dutch environmental policy is to create a sustainable society. They want less CO2 emissions and a new climate treaty that should apply from 2020. They want to make sure that the next generation does not suffer from our environment pollution.

Assignment 2

What does this school do to save energy?

: teachers have to turn off the lights and the tv in the classroom after they leave. at our school we have solar panels on the roof. We also have heat resistant glass so we keep nice and cool in the school. In the halls of the school we have energy-saving lamps. We also have a high efficiency boiler.

What do we think that this school could do more to save energy?

: two buttons for flushing the toilet so you can save water. Rainwater that flushing the toilet. A detector crane so when you put you washed your hands the crane turns off automatically.

What are you doing to save energy?

Romy: At our house we have timers on the lights so when its …. Pm/am the lights turn off.

What aren’t you doing to save energy, can you change some things?

Romy: I’m showering a bit long, that could be shorter and I never pull the plugger out of the wall-plug. So its better that I do that as well.

Assignment 3

I tried to save energy last week.

* I showered every day about five minutes,

* I turned the lights off when I leaved the room.

* When the sun was shining I turned off the lights. I did the plugs from the socket when I don’t use them.

When everyone do this, you save more energy and the world will be more clean. Every little bit helps.

Adidas, clean products or not?

http://www.adidas-group.com/en/sustainability/products/materials/

Adidas is using a lot of recycled or sustainable materials. RankaBrand gives Adidas a D-label, this means that they are already a bit sustainable but they have to improve their company for cleaner products. Nike has the same label.

Materials:

The most commonly used sustainable materials what Adidas is creating are recycled polyester, recycled rubber, organic cotton, "Better Cotton", Polylactic Acid, Tencel (a fibre made from wood pulp), and non-mulesed wool for apparel and leather.

Fair Trade ?

67 percent of Adidas' factories are in Asia, only 13 % in Europe and 20 % are located in America. Adidas says it is all sustainable and clean but we think in reality it seems not. For example: On the Adidas site they say they don't accept child labour, but there are sites and papers who say the opposite.

I have done research to the clothing brand Pull&Bear. This shop is can be find in more than 88 countries. Pull&Bear was established in 1991 with a clear, international vocation and with the intention to make clothes for comitted, solidary and social youth. Young people who dress informally, don’t care about stereotypes and want to feel comfortable.

The headquarter:

The headquarter of Pull&Bear is in Spain S.A Polígono.

Made by Charlotte

Hai we are  Julia, Nickyrina and Gerjanne from the Grundel,

We have done research about the brand Zara. This is a well known brand, which has established in different countries. It’s a brand for women, men and children.

But is this brand durable?

The headquarters stay in Spain, inA Coruña. Zara is fair about their factories and the situations in their factories. Their clothes are made in developing countries. But Zara is active to make the situations better, because it is not good enough. Also has the brand joined to the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) organisation. This organisation tries to improve the situations in factories. They also stimulate actions to collect and reuse.

Zara has also made a durable collection. They use next to biological cotton also for the collection reproduced wool and the durable material Tencel. The clothing company say that the clothes from the collection are made of forest- and animalfriendly materials.

What can be better:

-Zara was a time ago bad in the news, because a girl found a dead rat in the hem of her dress.

-Zara doesn’t use sustainable energy.

-there is no published list of factories, so you don't know exactly where everything is made.

 We think Zara is a nice brand. We don’t care where our clothes come from, but we think that the situations in the factories must be improved.

H&M

H&M is the most durable chlotes shop In the netherlands at this moment. Acording to Rankabrand. (they have a C-label)

Things that came with the H&M all go well what about the durability of the factories.

-The H&M has a policy to reduce its own co2 emissions.

- The H&M has a policy to all harmful substances from their products.

- The H&M has the objective to banish all PVC from their products and this all in 90% of the products to take effect.

Things that really still need to be improved to the sustainability of this company.

- The H&M does not use the energy from sustainable sources.

- At this company are the vinery not yet optimal.

Hi all, we found it very fun to read because we also are Dutch.
We found the picture also nice because then we could see how your class looks like.
It was a bit unclear who is who.
We are looking forward to more information about your school and what you are doing to the environment.

We have one more question: What level do you guys do ?

You don't have permission to comment on this page.
